Age and eligibility
We accept QLD enrolments from age 16. Queensland liquor law does not set a minimum age for RSA training; alcohol-service employment rules depend on the venue and duties.
Identification
Bring valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s licence, passport or proof-of-age card. Follow your course instructions and make sure your enrolment details match your documents.
USI
Have your Unique Student Identifier ready and make sure your enrolment details match your ID. A valid USI is needed for nationally recognised certification unless an exemption applies. Get a USI.
Certification
Receive a Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB021 after successful training and assessment.
Language and support
You’ll need to read, write and speak English well enough to follow the course and complete the assessments, plus basic numeracy.

What Is RSA and Who Needs It in QLD?
Most staff serving or supplying alcohol at Queensland licensed premises need RSA, including relevant staff under 18. Some exemptions apply. Required training must generally be completed within 30 days of starting employment.

What the QLD RSA Course Covers
You will learn about responsible alcohol service, checking identification, preventing underage drinking, recognising intoxication and refusing service. Your trainer explains how these skills apply to hospitality work in Queensland.
Practical examples and assessment activities help you handle difficult situations, communicate with customers and minimise alcohol-related harm. Course materials are provided.
QLD Course Requirements: ID, USI and Eligibility
Bring the photo identification requested for your course and have your Unique Student Identifier ready. Your enrolment details should match your ID. Create a USI for free if you do not already have one.
Contact HCA before booking if you are under 18, have visa-related eligibility questions or need learning support. Training eligibility and permission to perform particular work duties are separate requirements.

Your RSA Statement of Attainment
Receive a Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB021 after successful training and assessment. This is your RSA evidence in Queensland; no separate NSW-style competency card is issued.
Keep a copy of your qualification and give your employer the evidence they request. Contact your training provider if you need a replacement.
How Long Does QLD RSA Last?
Queensland RSA Statements of Attainment do not expire. Keep your certificate available for your employer and update your knowledge when rules or workplace procedures change.
Continue following your venue’s procedures and ask your supervisor when you need help applying responsible-service requirements.
Already Have an RSA?
Queensland recognises a Statement of Attainment for the national RSA unit obtained through an RTO in another Australian state or territory. Check the official guidance if your certificate is old or its qualification is unclear.
If you plan to work elsewhere, check the destination’s liquor regulator before you start. State-specific training or a bridging process may apply. Check the official guidance.

What happens if I do not pass the assessment?
We provide an opportunity to attempt the assessment again if you do not pass the first time. Your trainer will explain the next steps and any further training needed. Certification is issued only after successful completion.
What English, literacy and numeracy skills do I need?
You need to read course instructions, complete forms and short written answers, communicate with the trainer, follow spoken instructions and understand basic times and quantities used in alcohol service.
